Dave Richey is a partner in the law firm of Parr Richey Obremskey & Morton.  Mr. Richey has concentrated his practice since joining the firm in 1960 in civil litigation, utility law, corporate, probate, and estate planning.  His experience includes representation of  local, regional, and national companies and organizations.  His current litigation involves primarily probate matters such as wills, trusts and guardianships.  Primarily his time is now spent in estate planning, probate and related litigation.  He is also a certified mediator and has conducted numerous civil mediations.  In law school, Mr. Richey was the senior writer for the Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Team, president of the Law Club, and law clerk to the Honorable John M. Ryan of the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Appearances/Publications

Mr. Richey has made presentations to attorneys, management and directors, among other organizations, through the Indiana Continuing Legal Forum, of which he was president in 1989, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and various other professional and charitable organizations throughout the state and country.

Appointments/Memberships

Mr. Richey is a past president of the Boone County Bar Association, the Sixth District Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association (1991-1992).  As a member of the initial Board of COLAP, he served several years as its secretary.  He is also a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  Mr. Richey is a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation, of which membership is limited to less than 1/3 of 1% of attorneys in a given state.

Active in community affairs, he has served as an officer and board member in various civic organizations, including, past president of the Boone County Chapter of the American Red Cross, past president of the Boone County Mental Health Association, founder and past president of the Lebanon Educational Foundation, founder of the Volunteer Legal Arm of the Ruth Lilly Hospice Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis 500 Festival Associates, the United Way of Central Indiana, Starlight Musicals, Holidays Celebrations Inc., Indiana Repertory Theater, Ulen Country Club, and the Woodstock Country Club, where he served as president in 2003.

Honors/Awards

Mr. Richey was the recipient of the 1996 Indiana State Bar Association Centennial Service Award; the 1997 Distinguished Alumni Service Award from Indiana University School of Law; Phi Delta Phi Outstanding Law Student Award (1960);   Boone County Distinguished Service Award (1965), and Indianapolis Bar Association's Pro Bono Award (2006).  Additionally, he is listed in “The Best Lawyers in America.”
